It doesn't need to be a position like mine, you just can't be going over the side of your piece, because then it will look like your head got chopped off when I place you. So something like this would be fine:

Edit: Yeah your last one is good outside of the arm going outside the piece, but you could just cut it above that. Sorry if you have to redo a bunch of work >.<

Edit: Updated # 3 I added the arrows and extra color in the paint splatters.
